Fort Stewart is the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River. It covers 280,000 acres.
It's approximately 41 miles southwest of the city of Savannah. Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are the Army's world-class training, and military armored power projection combination on the eastern seaboard of the United States.
Tank, field artillery, helicopter gunnery, and small armsranges operate simultaneously throughout the year.
Chaplain (Capt.) Jason Southard
The mission of the Military Ministry at Faith Baptist Church is to partner with Chaplains, Commanders, and Churches to offer Christ-centered solutions to the challenges that our military and their families face.

Locally, our Military Ministry primarily reaches out to the Fort Stewart Military Installation in Hinesville, GA about 15 minutes from our church. One of the Chaplains our church works with is CH (CPT) Jason Southard.
The Army Chaplaincy is very unique. I am serving in this capacity because I am a missionary,”  Southard commented after receiving his degree. “I want to serve my country by providing religious care to those who provide our freedom. I am patriotic and feel a sense of duty and responsibility to my country; however, the burden that I have is one that surpasses obligation and points to sovereign destiny.” Following his promotion, Chaplain (Capt.) Southard served the Lord with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Hinesville, GA before moving on to his next duty station.

As a chaplain, he preaches, teaches, counsels, and prays with soldiers. Also, wherever the soldiers go, he goes. If they run, he runs. If they march through the mud, he does as well. When they deploy, he will go where they go. The opportunities to share the Gospel throughout the military are endless.
Jason Southard was the first to receive Piedmont Baptist College and Graduate School's M.A.B.S. Chaplaincy degree.

He began his service with the 101st ABN DIV (ASSLT) located in Ft. Campbell, KY. While attending the Graduate School program, he was a Chaplain Candidate and completed basic training. He also served as an assistant pastor for three years and a pastor for two years. When he completed the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies Chaplaincy program in December 2009, he was commissioned as a 1LT and began serving on active duty.
